And it's Ho! Let’s Go to Painted Post NY !!

Haven’t been there for (mumble-mumble) years.

Drove via Fort Erie for lunch at Glen Iris Inn in Letchworth State Park; Fort Erie because the signs said a 2-hour delay at Lewiston, but we were stuck 50 minutes at Fort Erie anyway, and not just because of the extra traffic.

We were 9th in line from the gate when US customs stopped a red van. It sat there for 20 minutes while all other 8? Lines flowed through.

To my mind they should have pulled the guy out of line and let the line keep flowing.

In Bliss we came across a truck that had collided with the rail bridge . We skirted that and were met by a detour south of Bliss, and fortuitously ended up traveling eastbound on Telegraph Road, where I skidded to a halt alongside a trommel; Full story here .

Lunch in Letchworth State park. Here’s a view of the second (lower) falls at Glen Iris Inn. The falls are noisy. The walkway is well above the lip of the falls; they descend into the gorge.

Here is a video of the falls . If you look closely you can see the railway trestle high up above this stupendous gorge.

Here is another video, a better shot of the rail bridge in this one.

I forget where this building is. Canaserga, maybe.

I’d not lodge there; I don’t know about hue.

The Hampton Inn is clean and quiet. As usual.

In the late afternoon I sat outside and polled the traffic on #17/86, perhaps the busiest east-west highway in new York state after the I-90 toll road. Management Measures Trucks

Here we are, sited just below exit 43.

I was fascinated by the variety of heavy tractor-trailers that thundered past my spot.

Next morning we spent 3 hours at the nearby Arnot Mall. I don’t know why. It was deserted .

Lunch at Chef’s Diner on the way north, then a stroll along the shores of Seneca Lake in Geneva. This is the view south, down the lake, taken from the foot of Lake Street.

There’s beauty here, if you seek it out.

Then on up #14 to I-90 and a mad dash to Buffalo.

We had a truly GREAT meal at The Olympia on Niagara Falls Boulevard . I ate one third of my salad.

Betty ate 1/3 of hers.
