Of course, stocking half the living-room floor with Philodendron is an open invitation to stock the other half with cat-vomit, if the past four winters have been anything to go by.

So, let’s rip out six shelves of the bookcases, saw each shelf at the thirteen-and-a-half mark, drill two holes in each end, and use some one-inch number 8 round-head wood screws to screw them together.
