Toilet Roll Egg Cups

I know you do it - finish a roll of toilet paper and think “There HAS to be a use for this thin brown cardboard tube”. Kindergartens and Elementary Schools use them for crafts, but you don’t have a link to a nearby school, and anyway, you look a bit silly walking inn to the school office with a toilet-roll tube, fresh from your bathroom, with “Can you use this?”.

I have lost my small orange plastic egg-cups.

So I took my cardboard tube to the refrigerator and did a quick test with an egg.

I cut the tube in half and carefully forced one half inside the other to make a stronger tube.

Perfect fit!

Of course, these egg-cups can’t be washed, but the microbial life forms in your vermicomposter will thank you for the specks of egg-yolk that have fallen on to the cardboard tube!

If you do have small children, you could paint the tubes in wood-glue, allow them several days to harden, and then paint them with samples of your kitchen wall paint.
