The Toaster Oven

Along with the four non-working drip coffee makers last week, I was given a toaster oven. It worked, but had been used to melt plastic beads, and the guts were pasted in condensed carbon vapors and the stench was that of an industrial river.

Absolutely no good at all for toasting anything.

Except, except, …

I disassembled the toaster oven, scrubbed and rinsed off all the soot, detergent cleaned it, and re-assembled it. It still gave off chemical odours but not as bad. So I thought I’d turn it on while I was shaving each morning, keeping an eye on it.

I have grown more confident, and now turn it on for the thirty minutes it takes me to have my first coffee, and by then my bathroom is toasty-warm.

No need to use the heater given to me “because the decorative flames have stopped working”.

An all electric-house means I never worry about where the heat is coming from; it’s all heat, right?
