Smaller Caption Buttons
I rarely need to click on a Quick Launch icon ( Never Close, Never Minimize ) and never need to click on a Maximize, Minimize or Close button ( Maximize Every Window ), so I reduce their sizes and have fewer distarctions for my eyes.
Here’s how to reduce the size of those icons.
On the Desktop, Right-Click and choose Properties from the pop-up menu that appears,
Chose the Appearance tab.
Click on the Advanced command button
From the Item list box select “Caption Buttons”
Change the size to, say, 12 (You will see the changes taking place in the preview panel)
Confirm out of there.
To reset everything back to defaults, in the Appearance tab choose “Windows Classic Style”, and then choose ‘Windows XP Style”.
P.S. If you are serious about trying to optimize your use of Windows, the smaller caption buttons will induce you keep your applications open (see Never Close, Never Minimize ).
I find that smaller caption buttons are a nuisance when I want to use them, so having to re-launch my browser from the Quick Launch bar reminds me that I had better not have closed it five minutes ago!
