CTRL-C to Copy the Selection
No matter what you are doing on the computer, look for some highlighted text and use the Ctrl-C keyboard combination to copy that selected text to your clipboard. Then paste it somewhere else.
The selected text might be in a document or a spreadsheet, or even in the dialogue box that pops up when you choose File, save As.
Why, even most File, Page setup dialog boxes pop up with selected text.
See what I mean? It’s EVERYWHERE.
CTRL-C is faster than reaching for the mouse, and it will paste into a File Open text box even when the Edit Copy menu item is unavailable to you.
