Ctrl-Escape
In a separate set of articles I explore the debate "The Keyboard vs. The Mouse". For me it is a non-issue. After 15 years of teaching Windows and Windows applications in the classroom and at desk side, I am convinced that 9 times out of 10, the keyboard is faster.
I will convince you too, if only you'll give me a fair trial.
In this lesson I want to introduce you to the keyboard, and I have taken a photograph of an old type and a new type:
You are going to FLY! And I am going to show you how.
No matter what version of Windows you are using, try this:
Hold down the Control key ("Ctrl" near the lower-left corner of your keyboard) and tap the escape key ("Esc" near the upper-left of your keyboard).
Regardless of the version of Windows you use, you should receive a pop-up menu; the menu will depend on your version AND on the degree of customization applied, but you should get a pop-up menu. If you do not, then please Contact Me .
To remove the pop-up menu, tap the Esc key once.
Try that a few times, Ctrl-Esc, followed by Esc.
In the next lesson I'll show you how to load almost any program directly from the keyboard - no more hunting around the folders on your hard drive.
