CTRL-SHIFT-8 - to Select the Current Region

In Microsoft Excel, place your cursor in a block of data, then hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys simultaneously; with both those keys held down, tap the “8” key from the top of your keyboard. Since the “*” key is a shift-8, you can also think of this as CTRL-Asterisk.

Excel will automatically select the entire block of data cells bounded by white space.

You can think of this as if Excel scanned rightwards looking for an empty column, downwards looking for an empty row, leftwards, and upwards. Those empty columns and rows form the boundary of your data.
