Always Click on a Drop-Down List Arrow

ALWAYS.

Why?

The dialog box you have been using for years holds vastly richer opportunities than are presented to your eye.

It is your responsibility to present those opportunities to your eyes, and hence to your mind, and hence to your opportunities for business advancement.

Here’s an easy example:

In the File Open dialog (any application) you are accustomed to clicking on the drop down list titled “Look In”, that list is generally at the top left-hand corner of the dialog box.

There are two other drop-down list boxes available to you, generally near the bottom of the dialog box: “File name” and “Files of type”. Each of those will open up possibilities you had not, until now, dreamed of.

Now look near the top-right of the dialog box. You will see drop-down arrows for “Views” and for “Tools”.

Knock yourself out!
