The regular =SUM(ABOVE) function as implemented by Microsoft stops as soon as it detects an empty cell.
My function TableFunctionSUM allows you, the user, to select a block of cells and know that all cells within the selection will be summed.
The regular =SUM(ABOVE) function as implemented by Microsoft works on a column of cells.
My function TableFunctionSUM allows you, the user, to select a rectangular block of cells spanning two or more columns and know that all cells within the selection will be summed.
Caution: I assume that a cell is available immediately below the bottom cell in the rightmost column of your selection.

In the example above I selected the cells “1”, “2”, “3”, “6”, “7” and “8” and ran the macro TableFunctionSUM .
The macro TableFunctionSUM deposited the SUM formula in the previously empty cell below “8”.
