Yes there was.
Her is a brief history of the first 20 years of my time spent programming computers, from rewiring the plug-board on the IBM 407 accounting machine, staring through holes in punch cards held up to the fluorescent ceiling lights, squeezing 81 characters into an 80-character card, walking through the CDC Cyber computer, and designing computer languages.
