What Criteria?
My preference for contacts is for CEOs, CIOs, and CFOs of million- or billion-dollar corporations that work out of Toronto or Mississauga. In particular, I'm interested only in the Financial, Banks, Insurance, Pharmaceuticals, and Investment firms.
In the screen shot above you can see that I am a little more discerning.
For any news report to be considered a good candidate for BASE, it must mention at least one ("any") of "Toronto" and "Mississauga". It must mention at least one ("any") of "Financial", "Banks", "Insurance", "Pharmaceuticals" or "Investment".
And so it goes.
Besides asking that it have any one of a set of words or phrases, I can ask that it has ALL of a set of words or phrases, and I can ask that is has NOT ANY or NOT ALL of a set of words or phrases.
Weather Vain usually nets me two to four good candidates each business day. That is, while there might be 300 press releases in the MASS folder, two or three or four will be sitting in the BASE folder.
The Weather Vain job runs as part of my boot-up sequence each morning, takes about two minutes, and by the time I've poured my coffee, I can sit down and inspect this morning's harvest.
In this way I keep tabs on my existing contacts (who were prospects just a month or two ago). If something happens, I know about it first thing the next day and can call them up.
