Toolbar “Quickies”
Welcome to the cheap’n’nasty of the macro world!
Remember that I habitually migrate useful code from my Normal.dot to my Utils.dot, and just as regularly I copy a pristine version of Normal.dot to replace the old one. Creating stuff in Normal.dot is, for me, like scribbling on a desktop blotter (remember them?) There’ll be a fresh sheet in the morning.
Bearing this in mind, here’s how I develop an easy way to do boring and repetitive tasks.
From Word:
From the menu system choose "Tools, Macro, Record".
Click on the button that says “Toolbars”.
After a short pause you’ll see the Customize Box and the Command tab.
Drag the “Normal.NewMacros.Macro1” item from the Customize Box up and onto your Word toolbar.
You’ll see the familiar “toolbar with a stop button”
Perform the actions you need to record.
From the menu system choose "Tools, Macro, Stop Recording".
The three signs of macro recording should disappear.
You can now click on your toolbar macro to effect a repetition of the recorded commands.
