When I was your age ... we all wore uniforms to school.
In North America only the very exclusive schools promote uniform clothing.
But in summer time all that changes. In-town camps for kids all sprout a uniform T-shirt, and we see crocodiles of six-year olds walking and crossing the streets.
Here I sit in the little art gallery in the Yorkville Public Library, minding my own business (not!) and watching a clutch of young-uns listen and watch as an educator educates.
There is something about a school (or in this case, a Camp) uniform that speaks of conformity to ideals; ideals of learning. We are all here to learn.
Emma’s Summer Cake
I made another one .
Truth is, it is more like a dessert. I think that draping ice-cream or, at a pinch, hot custard over it would improve it. Just a little.
And here were today’s ingredients: Plums, Peach, Strawberries, Blueberries, and some Grated Ginger Root. Mmmm!
