Western Australia

So, how big is Western Australia? Roughly one million square miles. So, roughly, one-third of the area of Australia.

So, roughly one third the area of the Continental U.S.A.

What does that look like?

Draw a line running north-south along the western border of Texas. To the west of that line is about one million square miles.

Draw a line running north-south along the Mississippi river. To the east of that line is about one million square miles.

Here are two tables to support my contentions. The columns headed “Sq Miles” are the areas of the states of the USA. The column headed “Balance” is a reducing balance; it reduces the outstanding area by the area of each state as it develops downwards.

I have used “Land Area” for each state, eliminating the reported water area of each state, since Western Australia doesn’t have any water lakes to speak of. Only Salt Lakes.
