United we Stand, United we Fall, or Get Dragged Off the Plane

The Furor continues.

What I fail to understand, and have not seen mentioned in print, is the Local Cause of this Affair.

Four Employees of a Different Airline asked for seating so that they could reach a destination where they were to Staff a Plane on a next day’s flight.

Fer Crissakes!

This is North America, right, where planes criss-cross the skies every five minutes. This is not Australia as it was in the 1950s with one plane a day.

Why couldn’t the four crew just go to Another Airline and ask for four seats on the Flight that left Twenty Minutes Later?

Why couldn’t United tell the four crew just go to another airline and ask for four seats on the flight that left twenty minutes later?
