A Time to Sit, a Time to Walk
Wednesday, June 02, 2010
The time is 1:30 p.m.
I have eaten my lunch.
I had hoped to eat my lunch elsewhere, but the problems are mountainous, and I have tackled and solved most of them.
I can see “the light at the end of the tunnel”; I believe that within 24 hours of my arrival the backlog will be cleared.
I take a breath.
I have enjoyed sitting here for 20 minutes chatting with the client while the 20-minute document generation job ran.
Now I need to walk.
A convenience store is three minutes walk from here.
I buy nine ice-cream bars, three each of three kinds, and walk the bag back to the office freezer.
Some of us have an ice-cream as post-lunch dessert.
What a treat!
I leave the remainder to be eaten over the next few days.
With a bit of luck I’ll be remembered for $13-worth of ice-cream, not for being present while various problems were identified with the system.
