Once your Utility Function library is in place, end-users can make use of your existing functions (or suggest new functions to you).

In an empty cell we have called up the function-picker, browsed to User-defined functions, and selected our new hand-built utility function.

The function picker makes our little function appear quite professional.

We are rewarded with the leftmost part of the original string, split off at the space character.

Our way is now clear to develop functions to satisfy the business requirements of our organization.

The world is ours!
